Wilbur was amazing. He hauled all of our stuff through the rugged Rocky Mountains no matter the weather.
PRACTIAL EXERCISE 1: AUDIENCE INSIGHTS Your final project for this class is to build a website using the concepts you’ve learned over the course of the semester. In order to be successful in that project, you need to employ design thinking, audience understanding, and use of digital channels to design a site that will be successful in meeting your objectives. For Practical Exercise 2, your task will be to create a Digital Marketing Strategy outlining how you will meet your audience’s needs. In order to understand those needs, you need to develop a plan that includes who you will speak with and what questions you will ask. Practical Exercise #1 is meant to be a checkpoint to ensure you are setting yourself up to gain relevant audience insights to complete the remaining exercises. Assignment is worth 50 points; Submit in Acrobat PDF to Assignments folder on D2L “Exercise 1” Due prior to 7pm Tuesday February 21 - Reduce by at least a full grade beyond due date First Step: Decide what kind of site you want to build. Can be real business, made up business (as long as you can interview REAL people), or self-promotion/ job seeker site You are NOT COMMITTED to the idea you use for this exercise – if you decide to go a different direction for your project – that is ok! If you don’t have an idea for what you might want to do yet, base this exercise on building a site for yourself such as a portfolio or to attract future employers. Based on what you think you’ll build, provide the following details: Description of site you intend to build What will your site do? Example: I want to build a site to sell cookies online High level audience description Who will be your key customer segment? Example: cookie lovers in the US List of 3-5 people you’d interview to learn about this audience Selection should be based on target audience and/or people who have relevant expertise I don’t need names, but do need descriptors (you ARE going to interview these people in Exercise 2) List of 5 (or more) interview questions you will ask – remember that questions should uncover motivations, challenges (you will be building an empathy map and persona from these insights in Exercise 2).
